New Alamein City occupies 48,000 acres on the North Coast of Egypt, and its depth reaches more than 60 kilometres south of the coastal strip.
The city gained notoriety for its historical involvement in the 1940s World War II military. The name, Al Alamein, refers to its position between Gabal Al Malh and Gabal Al Tair.
